Is the Old Testament Now Obsolete? - By Gene Lawley - https://www.raptureready.com/2023/05/06/is-the-old-testament-now-obsolete-by-gene-lawley/

There seems to be a strong and purposeful trend to cancel out the Old Testament of the Bible since Christ has come into human history. It takes off on a theme that Christ took charge, and all prophecy of the future from past utterances of the prophets are no longer relevant.

It takes on the appearance of a “Kingdom Now” theology, and the next thing to come is “a new heaven and new earth coming down to replace the present heaven and earth. Chronologically, that won’t happen until the end of the Millennium, at least one thousand and seven or more years, according to Revelation 21:1.

Those false teachers cancel out the coming of Jesus to “ingather” His body of believers just before the seven years of the tribulation begins, now looming on the immediate horizon. That missing 70th week of Daniel, told by the angel Gabriel to Daniel and reported at Daniel 9:23 and following, can be none other than the seven-year tribulation period.

A major fault that openly defies Scripture is their claim that Jesus did not die on the cross for the whole world but just for those who believe. Scriptures that deny that claim are readily seen, as in 1 John 2:2: “And He is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only, but for the whole world.” John 3:16 is even changed to mean, “For God so loved the world (of believers) that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes on Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” Does “whosoever” mean anyone, or how did that “world of believers” get belief before Christ died for them?

Furthermore, Romans 5:6 says, “For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly!” He died for sinners, and I was one of that ungodly bunch. Romans 5:8 further establishes that His death came first, before the believers, saying, “But God commended His love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”

But Romans 5:18 then brings the reason that the death of Christ was necessary in order that mankind would have access to everlasting life by choice if he wanted it: “Therefore, as through one man’s offense judgment came to all men, resulting in condemnation, even so through one Man’s righteous act the free gift came to all men, resulting in justification of life.”

An available gift is not automatically effective until it is accepted, so this does not mean all mankind is saved. Mankind must choose Christ’s provision of redemption. He is that gift for salvation. And twisting Scriptures to mean something else is obviously promoting a false doctrine. The Scripture is clear in 1 John 5:11-12: “And this is the record that God has given to us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.” The gospel is an Old Testament promise.

Another Old Testament command also speaks out. When did the Great Commission actually begin? In Psalm 107:2 it says, “Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom He has redeemed from the hand of the enemy.”

The foundations of our faith are told in the Old Testament, and God never made a promise He did not intend to fulfill. It has been reported that at least 300 or more prophecies and promises of Jesus and His coming into the world have been fulfilled.

Paul, the Apostle, was well-versed in the Holy Scriptures and said so in his testimony in Philippians 3. His declaration in 2 Timothy 3:16-17 was based on Old Testament Scriptures, for none of the New Testament writings had been brought into formal observance yet.

In his epistles, Paul made two worthy observances that testify to the value of the Old Testament in our theology today, In 1 Corinthians 10:11, he reported this: “Now all these things happened to them as examples, and they were written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the ages have come.”

God has not changed one bit since the beginning, before time began and eternity past was incomprehensible to mortal minds.

Not only does Paul point us to the Old Testament for examples of sinfulness we must avoid, but he also looks there for the Lord’s affirmations of positive qualities. Romans 15:4-5 tells us of those: “For whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that we through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope. Now may the God of patience and comfort grant you to be like-minded toward one another, according to Christ Jesus.”

The shedding of blood as the requirement for salvation is recorded in Genesis 3 that is later codified in the law in Leviticus 17:11, saying, “The life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for sin, for it is the blood that makes the atonement.”

It is further established in Hebrews 9:22 with this: “Without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sins.” And, of course, that final blood sacrifice of Jesus on the cross as One without sin confirmed and fulfilled that law in its perfection.

Concerning the fulfillment of “every jot and tittle of the law,” as claimed of Christ, we see in Hebrews 4:15 how His response to temptations reveals His deity: “For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.”

Two passages that are so detailed of the coming Messiah’s crucifixion cannot be labeled as no longer relevant Scriptures. Psalm 22 is the first one, and Isaiah 53 is the other one.

That first one details the horror of dying on a cross. You may recall that account in the gospels when Jesus was nailed to the cross on the third hour, that is, at 9:00 a.m. Then, at the ninth hour, or 3:00 p.m., He was pronounced dead. He was hanging there for six hours!

He had just said, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do,” then, “It is finished,” and, “And when Jesus had cried out with a loud voice, He said, ‘Father, into Your hands I commit My spirit.’ Having said this, He breathed His last.”

It is an unimaginable and horrible way to die, hanging nailed to an upright cross for six hours, and for the two thieves, having their legs broken to complete their deaths. But for Jesus, a prophecy was fulfilled that none of His bones would be broken.

The Isaiah 53 prophecy tells of His suffering at the hands of the religious leaders as “a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief,” and His hanging between two thieves. It is too truthful to be relegated to nothing worth remembering, as it seems this new “revelation” is promoting.

Another prophecy that stands out in its fulfillment is found in Psalm 16:9-10, saying, “Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoices; My flesh also will rest in hope. For You will not leave my soul in Sheol, nor will You allow Your Holy One to see corruption.”

In John 11, in the account of the death of Lazarus, his sister cautioned Jesus about the condition of her brother’s body, for it had been in the grave for four days, and she said, “now He stinks.” That is, his body had begun to experience corruption.

Thus, Jesus had maintained that He would follow the example of Jonah, who had been in the belly of the great fish three days and three nights. Jesus said, “I will be three days and three nights in the belly of the earth.” Then Peter writes that “He went and preached to the spirits in prison” (1 Peter 3:19)

One of the less recognized considerations of the Old Testament is its place in the four revelations of God to mankind. His first way of identifying Himself was by His audible voice, for no man can see God face to face and live, as the Word declares. And encounters with heavenly beings by people that are recorded in the Old Testament show their responses of great fear as they fall on their faces.

Secondly, He revealed Himself in the law. How was that, you wonder? As Jesus is later identified, it is the character of His being, as He fulfilled every jot and tittle of the law.

Then, Hebrews 1 reveals Him in the person of His only begotten Son, as Jesus declared to Phillip, “He who has seen Me has seen the Father,” and, “Before Abraham was, I AM!”

Finally, He comes into the world at the end of those seven years of tribulation and reigns for a thousand years from Jerusalem, “ruling with a rod of iron” in a theocracy not known to mankind from their prior history.

The “whole counsel of God” is a principle of biblical study that tests whether or not the student is allowing for contradictions that might exist in his basic doctrine discoveries. Just as the Bereans did, as told in Acts 17:11, the Old Testament is necessary to learn of the whole counsel of God. Proverbs is a book of great wisdom with such truths as, “The fear of God is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding” (Proverbs 9:10).

And, Proverbs 3:5-6: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will guide your steps.”

When Jude wrote his letter, he was going to write about their common salvation, but he “found it necessary to write to you exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints.” Since he quoted Peter’s second letter, dated about 66 A.D., Jude possibly wrote his document not long after that time.

Those New Testament letters were not based on new writings, per se, but had to have been founded on Old Testament Scriptures. As the Bereans readily searched the Scriptures to see if what Paul said was so, and that was all they had, it remains that “the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints” came out of Old Testament Scriptures.

Read the angel’s message to Daniel of that missing 70th week that so well describes the purpose of God’s plan to punish Israel for their disobedience and to restore them to His grace and fellowship in an everlasting righteousness.

You who would hijack the promises and prophecies of God for these last days to create doctrines of your own making, get ready for a sudden awakening to a God of judgment. When the flesh of Adam’s heritage injects its tongs into the plan of God and twists Scripture to its own understanding, God must make necessary corrections and exact judgment.

Tribulation Trigger – Terry James - https://terryjamesprophecyline.com/2023/05/08/tribulation-trigger/

The planet is apparently poised for war. If not nuclear war, certainly conventional war on a horrific scale that will soon engulf the world in the thermonuclear sort seems highly possible.

Economies on a global scale, according to a number of fiscal experts, are set to collapse into depression like has never been known. Micro-beasts, as my friend Chuck Missler used to call the microbial agents of pandemics and death, are about to be released either through accidental escape from laboratories or through deliberate actions of the diabolists of the world.

Governments of the Western world—through insane laws, technological surveillance, and militancy—are, in fact, on the verge of bringing about enslavement not unlike governments of George Orwell’s 1984 fictional world.

Experimentation on changing humanity into something akin to chimeras and/or human-machine cyber threatens the human race to go extinct as created. Children are being experimented on at many levels, from being inculcated on becoming transgender to surgical and hormonal bodily transformations that are a threat to future procreation.

The very name of Satan is now on the surface of the culture in America, with after-school Satan Clubs luring children of all ages to join in the activities.

Parents are smoking mad and spewing fire over a new student club at their local elementary school promoting Satan.

The “After School Satan Club” at Golden Hills Elementary School in Kern County has parents outraged.

“I think it’s disgusting, I understand the school has to allow them because they allow other after-school programs such as the good news, which is a Christian-based after-school program, that one I’m okay with, but I can’t imagine why anyone would want their child to attend this Satanic group,” said Sheila Knight, grandparent to a fifth grader at the school, tells local CBS affiliate KBAK.

The club must be allowed under the First Amendment to the United States Constitution, which prohibits government institutions from discriminating on the basis of religious beliefs. Courts have consistently upheld the right of Christian, Jewish, Islamic, atheist and even Satanic groups to meet in schools.

“There’s currently a Good News Club there which is teaching kids to go save souls for Jesus, at the school. We want to give an alternative point of view,” club leader Paul Hicks tells KBAK.

The group is sponsored by The Satanic Temple, known for its publicity stunts, and the “Reason Alliance,” which promotes atheism. (“Parents Outraged Over Satan Club at California Elementary School,” by Donnie Ferguson, American Liberty News, November 23, 2022)

The Satan Clubs are as much as tongue-in-cheek, fad-like entertainment as serious worship of the devil in fact. This makes the Satan Club matter even more egregious, as it inculcates that Satan is just a myth and only to be spoofed. The young are therefore being deluded further into belief that as there is no devil, neither is there a God who governs.

All of this has invaded this earthly sphere at a stunning rate within recent months. It all means the Tribulation is about to begin. We must conclude that humankind’s last seven years before Christ’s return is about to be triggered.

Yet all that sin-heaviness hovers like that proverbial sword of Damocles we’ve mentioned a number of times. That sword remains suspended, although nothing seems to be holding it back from cleaving the thin veil separating rebellious people from the prophetically promised wrath and judgment from Heaven above.

Again, we find the cause of the sword’s suspension in midair as the wickedness grows by the hour.

And now ye know what withholdeth that he [Antichrist] might be revealed in his time. For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he [God the Holy Spirit] who now letteth [Restrains] will let [Restrain], until he be taken out of the way. And then shall that Wicked [Antichrist] be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: Even him [Antichrist], whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. (2 Thessalonians 2:6–10)

God the Holy Spirit, resident within each born-again believer in Jesus Christ for salvation, presently keeps the avalanche of this evil bursting fully down upon the planet. That avalanche of evil cannot and will not crash down upon all “earth dwellers” until it is triggered.

First, those who are not “earth dwellers,” but are “citizens of Heaven,” will be removed, thus will be safe from God’s wrath upon all rebellion against Him. When Christ calls to all believers—those who are “asleep” (have died) and those who are alive—the Holy Spirit within each believer will remove much of God’s influence against evil. He will no longer restrain wickedness.

Although it is not the ignition point of the great implosion of God’s judgment and wrath—that point will be the confirming of the covenant of Daniel 9:26–27—it will nonetheless be the trigger that sets off the complete avalanche of evil that will bring about the instrumentality that ignites man’s final seven years of rebellion. It will be the trigger to Tribulation and the rise of Antichrist’s most terrible time of terror.

That trigger, of course, will be the Rapture. It will be the “twinkling of an eye” moment that fulfills Jesus’ great promise to those who believe in Him for salvation.

Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth. (Revelation 3:10)

The only way to be kept from that horrendous time when Antichrist wreaks terror and God’s wrath falls on sinful mankind, is to do the following as given by the Apostle Paul:

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation

Born-Again Believers In Christ Do Not Have An Appointment With God’s Wrath – By Amir Tsarfati - https://harbingersdaily.com/born-again-believers-in-christ-do-not-have-an-appointment-with-gods-wrath/

We have recently become all too familiar with the phrase “Trust the science” from people in places of power or authority. Yet these same people tell us to accept that you can be whatever you think you are despite the scientific facts about you. Trust, of late, has become something that is not easy to do much of the time. When those who instruct us to “trust what they say” do things that prove they are not trustworthy, trust is the last thing we will extend to them.

Thankfully the object and basis of our trust is in a source that has an impeccable and perfect track record. Not once has it been inaccurate, not once has it asked us to believe in something contradictory to evidence, and not once has it been misleading or proven itself untrustworthy.

Psalms 119:160 KJV – “Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth for ever.”

In a season of history when truth is determined by a person’s feelings and emotions, it is good to know that we have a book of facts that records the past, directs us through the present, and foretells the future. This living, powerful, and unparalleled book has told us that born again Christians do not have an appointment with God’s wrath (1 Thessalonians 5:9). It also tells us that someday the wrath of God is coming upon the whole world (Revelation 16:1).

1 Corinthians 15:50-52 KJV – “Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption. Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.”

Born again believers in Christ do not have an appointment with God’s wrath, and this “book of all books” says that in order to enter the kingdom of God we will need to change from mortal to immortal and corruptible to incorruptible. This magnificent book also tells us this will happen quickly, in a mere moment, as fast as it takes for the human eye to twinkle, which is faster than you can blink. It must happen for God’s wrath to come upon the whole world.

Because the track record of the Bible is perfect, we would be foolish to ignore this foretold promise for those of us who are alive and remain until the day of the “twinkling of an eye” experience. While we do not know the day and the hour of that experience, we do know that the tribulation, the time of God’s wrath after we’re gone, will come at a time when the world is crying out for peace and safety. This phrase is interesting as peace can mean “an exemption from war.” However, it also means “harmony between individuals.” The word safety means “security from enemies and dangers.”

We live in a time when people are crying out for harmony between individuals. They want an acceptance of all truths and beliefs, which they believe will bring security from enemies and dangers. One of the enemies and dangers for the “peace and safety” crowd is the Christian faith, which is based on objective truth.

Romans 1:18 KJV – “For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;”

Why would anyone want to suppress the wonderful truths of God’s word? Because it is that truth that will make people free. Satan desperately wants to suppress it and convince humanity that what they really need is harmony with others through agreement with their feelings and emotions.

The Bible says someday the dead in Christ will rise, those alive and remaining at the time will meet them and the Lord in the air, and from that point on we will forever be with the Lord. We need to be watching and soberly waiting for that day. How do we know it’s coming for sure?

2 Corinthians 1:20-22 KJV – “For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us. Now he which established us with you in Christ, and hath anointed us, is God; Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts.”

Do you take His words seriously? Do you understand that in the same manner He came, He will return? Do you understand that in the same manner He resurrected, He will come back again?

Don’t be like the people of Galilee who were amazed although they’d heard over and over again about the resurrection. Don’t be like the people of the world that do not understand that all that can be shaken will be shaken, and only the things of God will remain standing.

Do you understand the times and the seasons? The Bible says in 1 Thessalonians 5:1-11,

1 Thessalonians 5:1-11 KJV – “But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you. For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober. For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night. But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation. For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him. Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.”

Whether you are still alive or you are dead, He will come and take us to be with Him. That will be a shocking thing for the world, because that will mean great tribulations coming to this world while we are gone.

The truth is sometimes hard to digest, sometimes hard to understand. But if you are in the Word and if you are with the Lord, you will understand it. And you will also know that you have to be prepared for it. Let us not sleep as others do. Let us be awake and sober. The Word of the Lord is true.

Oklahoma Farmer: “I Think We’re to The Dust Bowl, About the Same or Worse.” - by Michael Snyder - http://endoftheamericandream.com/oklahoma-farmer-i-think-were-to-the-dust-bowl-about-the-same-or-worse/

Our food prices aren’t just going up because our leaders pumped way too much money into the system. All over the world, crops are failing, and that includes right here in the United States. Earlier this year, CNN warned that we are in the midst of “the worst food crisis in modern history”, and so we really need this to be an extremely successful year for our farmers. Unfortunately, that just isn’t happening in much of the country. In fact, one wheat farmer in Oklahoma says that his farm is experiencing “the most severe drought I’ve ever seen”…

Looks can be deceiving. Rolling wheat fields may appear green and lively to passing drivers, but the farmers who planted the fields see a different story playing out as their crops die off and blow away.

“We had less than half of a crop last year, and we’re probably going to have half of that this year. It’s terrible,” said 75-year-old Burlington farmer Keith Kisling. “We’re in the most severe drought I’ve ever seen.”

Another Oklahoma farmer, 23-year-old Jacob Webster, is actually comparing current conditions to the Dust Bowl of the 1930s…

Jacob Webster, a 23-year-old farmer near Deer Creek in Grant County, spent a recent Sunday evening surveying his wheat fields in north-central Oklahoma. His leather cowboy boots were taller than much of the wheat, some of which is yellowing. He’s never seen a worse crop, he said.

“The good thing is today, we’ve got insurance, but the insurance doesn’t pay as well as a wheat crop could make,” Webster said. “With last year not being a very good wheat crop and this year probably not going to be the best, I would expect some people will probably have to fold up. It’s going to be tough.

“I think we’re to the Dust Bowl, about the same or worse.”

We have been warned for a long time that Dust Bowl conditions would return to the center of the nation.

Now it has happened.

Of course farmers in the U.S. are not the only ones that are dealing with extreme drought.

In Spain, endless drought has severely damaged “more than 3.5 million hectares of crops”…

Southern Europe’s farmers are facing a crop crisis. Months of drought has interruped this year’s harvests and some Spanish ecologists are warning the country may soon be unable to sustain cereal crops such as wheat and barley.

“Irreversible damage has been done to more than 3.5 million hectares of crops,” the main Spanish farmers’ association COAG warns, sounding the alarm on a trend it says is being observed throughout much of the country.

Crops are failing all over the planet right now, and this comes at a time when global food supplies have just been getting tighter and tighter.

As a result, hunger is on the rise. In fact, last year the number of people facing “acute hunger” increased to more than a quarter of a billion…

The Global Report on Food Crises (GRFC) for 2023 highlights that the number of people experiencing acute food insecurity and requiring urgent food and livelihood assistance is on the rise. The report indicates that over a quarter of a billion people are facing acute hunger, with economic shocks and the Ukraine war contributing to the increase. In 2022, around 258 million people across 58 countries and territories faced acute food insecurity at crisis or worse levels (IPC/CH Phase 3-5), up from 193 million people in 53 countries and territories in 2021.

If you still have plenty of food to eat, that is wonderful.

Others are not so fortunate.

As you read this article, there are 45 million precious souls around the world that meet the technical definition of being “on the brink of starvation”.

Conditions are particularly bad in Africa.

In West Africa, it is being projected that there will be 48 million people “without regular access to safe and nutritious food” this summer…

West and Central Africa has faced increasing risks caused by higher temperatures and erratic rainfall. War in Ukraine has contributed to food and fertilizer shortages in one of the world’s poorest regions.

The number of people without regular access to safe and nutritious food is projected to hit 48 million during the June-August lean season, according to a regional food security analysis presented by the U.N.’s World Food Program (WFP), humanitarian agency OCHA, Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and children’s agency UNICEF.

In East Africa, the “worst drought in 40 years” is causing an unprecedented crisis across the entire region…

East Africa’s worst drought in 40 years has forced millions of Somalis to leave their homes. Five consecutive failed rainy seasons pushed the fragile nation to the brink of famine, and this year is unlikely to be much different.

Last year, when I warned that a horrific global food crisis was on the way, I was not just blowing smoke.

In the time that it took you to read this article, more people dropped dead from starvation.

And way too often it is children that are perishing.

Sadly, most Americans are not going to care about the emerging global famine until it affects them personally.

Of course it is already affecting them personally, but they just don’t realize it yet.

One of the primary reasons why you have to pay 300 dollars for a cart of food at the grocery store is because global food supplies are much tighter than they once were.

In the early stages of this crisis, there isn’t going to be starvation in the western world like we are seeing in other areas of the planet.

But eventually there will be very serious shortages of food here too.

Are you prepared for that day to arrive?

I hope so, because the clock is ticking…

Daily Jot: Stupidocrisy: The debt dance and the fiddler - Bill Wilson – www.dailyjot.com

All the politicians are so worried about the debt ceiling. Really? Congress says it’s trying to do the right thing by cutting spending and reigning in the runaway Joe Biden socialist and tyrannical programs. Biden is digging in his heals saying that he will not negotiate that Congress must raise the debt ceiling otherwise it is in violation of the Constitution’s 14th Amendment, which he points toward language saying that Congress must stand behind the debts it creates. With the lack of border security also part of the mix, the Congress, the Democrats, and Biden are at a so-called Mexican stand-off. These debates over raising the debt ceiling are ongoing every time the government is spending far beyond its means.

Biden says that he doesn’t have to negotiate with Congress because the country’s budget should not be tied to the debt ceiling. From a layman’s perspective, how is spending more than you can afford, or having spent more than you can afford NOT tied your budget? It’s a matter of good stewardship. If a person is spending more than he is taking in, and it’s done long enough with great enough amounts of money, sooner or later it’s going to catch up to you. As my Dad used to say, “Dance all night, you have the pay the fiddler in the morning.” The United States has been dancing far too long on carrying dangerous levels of debt, so much so that none of us citizens could ever begin to cover our portion of the debt.

I remember in the 1980s, the news media was busting on the Reagan Administration for adding $1.86 trillion to the national debt, raising the defense budget by 35% which brought a huge peace dividend when the cold war ended. Hardly a word was reported with President Obama raising the debt by nearly $8.6 trillion. Then COVID and now Biden. Many of you may not be aware that the national debt is setting records by the second. In the time it takes to write this sentence, the national debt has risen some $310,000. It stands at a little over $31.7 trillion–$94,975 per citizen and $247,766 per taxpayer. Under Trump the National debt increased by $8.18 Trillion, $4.25 Trillion from March 2020 to January 2021 due to COVID. Already, the national debt has increased $3.9 Trillion, just two years into Biden’s presidency.

It is increasingly difficult to live by the Biblical standard found in Romans 13:7,8, “Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honor to whom honor. Owe no man any thing, but to love one another.” From debt to taxes to customs to tribute–who is going to pay? I’ve also been told, “Love don’t pay the bills.” Leadership matters. Accountability is key. We need to demand better. Congress has approved budgets. Biden and other presidents have spent more than they should. They are both totally responsible for this mess. For Congress to blame Biden, Biden to blame Congress, and you and I paying the fiddler for their dance is, say it with me…Stupidocrisy.

Daily Devotion: Ready to Listen - by Greg Laurie – www.harvest.org

But if you remain in me and my words remain in you, you may ask for anything you want, and it will be granted! —John 15:7

https://harvest.org/resources/devotion/ready-to-listen/ - Listen

Did you know that it’s possible to read the Bible out of pure duty—and not remember anything? We may read three chapters, but if the words don’t affect our lives, and if we don’t understand what we’ve read, then we would be better off reading three verses instead.

In Psalm 1 we find a description of those who walk with God: “They delight in the law of the Lord, meditating on it day and night. They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season. Their leaves never wither, and they prosper in all they do” (verses 2–3 NLT).

To meditate means to ponder or chew on something. It means to think something over.

When it comes to God’s Word, how do you listen? Whether you are distracted or paying attention will make all the difference in your life.

Jesus said, “If you remain in me and my words remain in you, you may ask for anything you want, and it will be granted!” (John 15:7 NLT). The New King James version of this verse begins, “If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you . . .”

Think of a deeply rooted tree that is soaking up the nutrients from the soil and growing every day. In the same way, to “remain” or “abide” refers to staying in a given place. It’s staying in fellowship with Jesus.

As we do this, as we start sinking our roots deeply into Christ, we will start praying for what God wants us to pray for. That is the objective of prayer. It isn’t getting God to do what we want Him to do. Rather, it’s doing what God wants us to do.

When Jesus’ words remain in us, it means that, ultimately, they affect our thinking, our living, and everything that we do.
